Osvaldo, Wendy, Mike, Chuy, Yeyo, Raúl, Vick, and Brandon. There they are: eight students at Instituto Bíblico Piedras Vivas (IPV), four returning and four just starting. They come from six cities in three states, and seven different churches. What they all have in common is a pastor back home who is confident they will learn and grow here at IPV, and a deep sense of their own calling to ministry.
In just the first three weeks of school this semester I've seen them take on leading meetings, directing prayer, leading worship, sharing at a drug rehab center, and helping in services with media, children, and even preaching and teaching. Already they are developing teamwork skills, Bible study skills, and leadership skills. They've studied Evangelism, Pentateuch, and have started Life and Teachings of Jesus and Christian and Ministerial Ethics.
Yet each one comes with levels of experience ranging from many years to just a few months in ministry. Ages range from seventeen to forty, and education from a year or two of middle school to college graduate. Some from the city, some from the countryside; A couple married with children, others still living at home; some wanting to pastor, others wanting to minister in countries like China, or Tibet!
I enjoy the privilege of watching ministry grow in each of them, on different levels, in different ways. I enjoy the satisfaction of knowing an investment in them will not be in vain, but will go to reach the world for Christ!
Join me in praying for our students this semester.
